George's good turn

George  was a Boy Scout.

Once his mother made him promise to do one good turn to any body  each day  like help an old woman across the street,stop a runaway horse,help a man with a heavy thing etc.

So George kept his promise to his mother and  did one good turn to a person each day. And for that  he got his favourite box of  chocolates a week. He enjoyed them very much.

But one day he couldn't  get any good turns to do. Nobody seemed to be needing any help at all.George looked for a runaway horse he could stop. But all the horses walked straight and not one ran away.

He was upset. Would he have to break his promise to mother? He had never,ever,ever broken a promise before in his entire life.He felt very sad and sat on a nearby bench, very sad .

He went home and told his mother he could not find any good turns to do.His mother was cross with him.She told h him she would not give him his favourite box of chocolates.George felt sad.

That evening he went out for he was really very upset.He walked thinking of miserable things when he at last reached the woods.He went to his favourite spot from where he could see the sunset very clearly.He was watching it whae he heard a loud whine.He ran to see what it was.

Why,Pat the dog that belonged to the local landlord had caught it's leg in a trap!George ran to it and tried his hardest to remove the trap when at last the steel teeth parted!Pat wuffed three times as if to say''thank you!'

One day when Pat was going along the road He saw George going in the very middle of it with a car rushing behind him!But George wasn't noticing.The car came nearer.Pat rushed and pushed George out of the road.

George said "Thank you,Pat. One day i saved you from a trap and today you saved me from a car! I will make you a scout dog!

Emily's Marble

Emily was so happy. She was gifted a big marble for her birthday.She
was gifted many  things too but she liked the marble more than
anything else.She took it to school everyday and she was a craze
about it.She treated it like a pet dog.

One day,a shocking thing happened.Emily was going on her way to
school and suddenly the marble fell out!Emily looked and saw that
it was gone.She was teribbly shocked.

She told her mother about and she was very sad about it. She told her
to go and look for it at once. So Emily went.

The woods were a long way and Emily was tired half-way. She took
shelter under a tree for some time and went on again.

At last she reached the woods. The frightening hissing of the snakes
and the hooting of the owls made her very scared. Still,she loved
her marble and couldn't bear to see it  broken. So she went on.

There were many kind animals in the woods and they gave Emily
food and water. They helped her cross the river and she thanked
them. She went on.

Night fell. It was  cold and dark. A windy night followed. Still,Emily
did not lose hope. She was sure that her marble was some where.
She thought her mother and father might have collected some men
to come in search of her. But that did not make her stop her quest.

Soon,it became very cold. All the animals were gone. It was a ferocius
night. Emily fumbled into her backpack for her coat. She found it and
put it on. But the night was too cold. She decided to shelter under a tree
for the night. She found a shady tree and sank down into it.

Soon,she did not get any sleep. It was very dark and too much cold.
Emily was starving by now. She fumbled under some twigs and felt
something.

''My marble! My very precious marble!Where have you been?''cried
Emily with joy. Her marble-the one she had been looking for all day!

There was even more joy waiting for Emily. Her parents had come
looking for her and when they found her,they cried tears of joy.

''Why,we've been looking for you all day! Did you find your marble?
We were so worried about you!''

Emily was taken home and put to bed. She felt her marble and her
pocket and thought,''What an adventure! But its a very good thing
I found my marble!''

Emily and her greedy friend

Once Emily and her friend George went for a  picnic by themselves
in a forest. Emily cut the sandwiches and put them in a bag.She
brought two big bottles of milk and lemonade. She brought 3
big boxes of chocolate.


''We'll have a fine time" said Emily as her friend came to her house.
"But what have you brought to eat?''

George had brought omelettes and boiled eggs packed neatly.
Emily loved those.Then greedy George asked what
she had brought.

George slurped as he saw her menu.He said''Wow,Emily this
is very good! I cannot wait till we reach!''


They finally got to the forest. George asked to begin with the
snacks first. But Emily said no. If George did not agree,she
would not unpack her food.George gave a sigh.

Emily felt pity for him.So she said that they may eat only two
things.Greedy George unpacked her own food and started eating
greedily. He finished his food also.Then he gave a large burp.

There was nothing left for poor Emily!

She gave a shout of rage. ''How dare you unpack my food and eat
it all up! You didn't leave your food  for me too!''

Suddenly heavy rain fell. The two of them quickly got inside a
log. When the rain stopped,Emily got out safely but George got
stuck. He cried''I'm stuck ! I'm too fat to go out!''

Emily was shocked. She did not know what to do. George was too
much fat. Instead of giving him a scolding,she tried hard to pull
him out. But it was of no use.

Then at last,luck fell.Two people were going through the forest
and they saw George. They pulled him out and transported the
two home. Then George said ''I will never be so greedy again!"

Alan learns a lesson

Alan  was a little boy who hadn't any manners at all. He was a very hard-hearted and unkind  boy. If an old lady in the bus would be standing he woundn't give her a place at all. And he woundn't do the simplest of jobs.

So you could see how bad he was.

One day he learnt a lesson.

He was playing in the fields when he lost his ball . He went into the woods to look for it.

The deeper he went into woods he couldn't find his ball. At last he found it but  he saw a hole and stopped.

''This isn't very usual'',forgetting that he was very deep in the woods''.
   
 
He went into the hole and fell down from 67 metres. He got up, feeling very  sick. A fairy found him and asked  him''Who are you?''(He was actually in fairy land)

Alan said ''  I am Alan. What is this place?  You all look very stupid.''

The fairies got very angry that they tied up Alan and pulled him to the Chamberlain's court. They said to the chamberlain'' He said that we are stupid ,my Lord."

''But I said so because I meant it. They are very unkind. You look very idiotic too. Stupid druggers !"

The Chamberlain got very angry and said "Make him the handy man of Fairy Land. That should teach him something.  Get up and start doing your work!"

"But I don't want to be your handy man" said poor Alan. "I won't do a single job even if they are easy "

The Chamberlain glared at him and told the fairies to take him away.

The fairies made him do all the work that a handy man was supposed to do. They made him dispose the garbage, paint the houses, mend things and worst of all he had to clean the toilet.  He was paid his wages and given a day free every month.  On his day free on a month, he went for a ride in the fairy bus.

The Chamberlain entered the bus.  He paid for a ticket.  The seats were full.  He went over to Alan and asked him very kindly " Please, boy, can you get up? I have a bad foot and it is paining very badly"

"No! You are a stupid man. You made me work very hard.  I won't give you a seat.  Get lost" .

Chamberlain got very angry and stopped the bus.  He pulled Alan by the shirt and took him to the fairy land prison.  As soon as he was being locked up, he started crying.  Then he found himself in his own bed!  It was all a dream!
Thank goodness!  He went to his mother and she told "Alan, my foot is paining very badly.  Could you get the bandages? "  Alan rushed to the medical shelf and got his mother the bandages.

Then he narrated his dream.  And nowadays if there is a old lady in the bus without a seat the first one to get up is Alan.  If anybody wants anything the first one to get it for them is Alan!  So I really think he learnt his lesson.  Don't you?

Emily as a Maid

One day ,Emily went to her friend's house.Her mother made her take her umbrella as it was raining.''It is really such a downpour''she said.

Off  went  Emily,the big umbrella above her.She came to her friend's house and played a lot of  games.Then she said goodbye to her friend and took the umbrella and went.The sun was shining so she shut her umbrella.

But ,she was taking the wrong way home!  She did not know that.She went on until she came to a cottage with a brass plate.It said'Wizard Twisty's cottage'.

She went inside and a big wizard looked at her.He raged''How dare you enter my house without permission!You shall work here as my maid as your punishment.Start! Cook me some potatoes for dinner!''

And Emily quickly fried some potatoes and gave it to the wizard.Then the wizard told''Sweep the house!Mop the floor!Chop the wood!''

And Emily worked as fast as lightening.Then the wizard gave her a large list of things to do!

She would run away!She did not like the place . So that night she creeped out of the little cottage and ran away as fast as she could.


But again she took the wrong way home!She again came to a little house and it was written'Witch Bluebell'.She went in and saw an angry witch looking at her!

The witch glared at her so Emily knew she was in trouble.The witch made her do an awful lot of jobs and once she overturned a bottle and the witch got very angry with her.

Emily again ran away but the same fate fell upon her.She came to Wizard bubbly's cottage.She got really scared and did all the jobs the wizard asked her to.

Oh,she never remembered the way home!She met Wizard spells,Wizard Wix, Witch Green Eyes and witch Kirri-kirri.How her back ached!

At last she met a really kind witch.Her name was Witch Daisy.She saw poor Emily and spread some soothing balm on her back.Then she sat her by the fireplace and gave her a cup of cocoa.Then Emily asked her why she couldn't go home.

The witch said''Ah ,that is because of your memory.You hardly ever remember things that you forgot the way home itself.Try to be more memrorisable.I'll give you the way home now,but remember it!''

And she gave her the way  and she used it. She never forgot the way again.

Emily At the Zoo

One day,Emily was to go to the zoo.She was very happy so she rummaged about her dress cupboard  to for a clean dress.Then she asked her friends if they could come too.

''We'll come,but it will be quite a long journey,'' answered her friends.''We'll bring cards too! Won't we have lots of fun!''

Emily got very happy to hear  that her friends were bringing games too.She put on her shoes,tied her ribbon,called her friends and went down the stairs.

She got  into the car and called to her  friends. They came running.In their hands were little bags of cards.Emily was delighted to see that they had  brought them.

Soon, they were all playing cards on their way to the zoo.

When they got to the zoo,they all got excited. When they got out,Emily's father opened the map.He saw it and suggested they go to see the lions first.

When they got to the lions,Emily got scared out of her life.Her mother tried to convince her by saying that they were only kept in cages.But she cried and everybody laughed at her.

Emily suggested they go to another animal. So the went to see the rabbits. But the rabbits were much more frightening to Emily  than the lions.Everybody cuddled the rabbits but Emily was too scared to go near the cage itself! Everybody laughed at her.

Her mother  saw this and suggested  that they would have some lunch,play some games and continue.Everybody were very hungry so they quickly opened out their snacks and started to eat.

Then after playing some games,they again continued.They saw the dolphins.But Emily was too scared that she stayed on the last seat itself! Her  mother said " Fancy getting scared of the dolphins! Come here, look at them. Aren't they a real beauty!''

But Emily stayed on the last seat and didn't come down.She got really scared and she told her father to get her to another animal.

Oh, Emily was scared at every animal! Her mother  also wouldn't comfort her. Her friends laughed at her at every animal and Emily thought''My friends don't like me any more!What's the use of calling them to my birthday party and everything?boo hoo hoo!''

When they got home,she told her mother what she had thought.She cried and cried.

Her mother said''You were so scared over there so evrybody laughed at you. You should try to more braver.Why are you caring when they laugh at you?Just don't look at them at all.Try to be brave and not childish.''

Emily heard these words and quickly told sorry to her mother.She promised she would never ever behave childish again.

Naughty Emily

Emily was a very naughty girl.She would not keep her bicycle in the shed.She would not put back her dolls in the cupboard and everybody got angry with her.


Well,this is the story of how her shoes taught her a lesson.

She kept her shoes in very bad condition.Sometimes they would smell  bad  and they always had a bad look on their face.

The shoes had got very angry with emily for keeping them in such bad condition.So they decided to teach her a lesson.They thought  hard and came up with an idea.They would run away when Emily wants them! That should teach her a good lesson.

They worked out their plan the very next day when Emily looked at the clock. Gosh! 6:00. almost time for school.  She quickly dressed,in case she missed the bus.

When she just went to get her shoes, they ran away! Emily tried to get them but they were too fast.Soon she  got  tired of running and quickly put on another pair and went out.

My, the fun the shoes had that day! They ran away when Emily went to the mall. They ran away when she went to her friend's house.

That night, she complained to her mother"Mummy,my shoes are running away from me.Please tell me why.It is very irritating to get them each time I want them''.

Her mother was a wise woman. She replied''Your shoes have got angry with you.If you do not care for them and be naughty, they will run away each time you want them.''

Emily heard her mother's wise words and felt that she must be right.She learnt that we must care for everything whatever happens.
